About Me

For me nutrition has played a significant role in my life. However originally, studying it was never my intention. Finishing grade 12 I decided to enrol in a bachelor of exercise science, like many before me, with no real direction. I had some mates enrolled to become physiotherapists, another to go onto exercise physiology and thought why not. After completing my first year with little fulfilment I transferred to a bachelor of nutrition and dietetics with my passion for food and its capability to heal and improve peoples lives in full swing.

Eager to learn everything I could it wasn't until my 4th year and clinical placement that I found my passions really start to emerge. Working with some truely inspirational people and clients I found a deep fascination in mental health, eating disorders, gastroenterology and gut health conditions. During this time I saw both ends of the spectrum. The healing, and destructive power of food. With the latter being what many people may have experienced, some honestly unaware it's possible and others simply just not wishing to disclose it. And I guess, this is where my passion for the non diet approach took hold. My hope is that I can facilitate and empower people to re-gain a love for food and understand the value of nutrition without carrying any sense of burden, failure or decreased quality of life during the process.

Fast forward to now and I have graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, am registered as an accredited practising dietitian and feel, without a doubt, this is the space I should be in. Food and nutrition is a fact of life, without it we would not survive. It brings us joy and enhances our health when we take control of our choices, rather than allow food or our outside environment to dictate our choices for us. Easy said than done, no doubt. However, with the right evidence based (and realistic) information, strong support networks and empowering environment I believe long lasting positive change can be achieved and nutrition can be unbelievably powerful.
