Mental Health and Disordered Eating
Nutrition can play a major role in mental health and mood. Not only through improved nutritional status but having adequate access to healthy foods and the ability to share them with others can be so powerful.
We adopt the RAVES model to support those with Eating Disorders (ED) and Disordered Eating (DE) which is an evidence informed approach to ED management. A structured and realistic roadmap which incorporates nutrition, variety and social aspects of food.
EDs are serious conditions and a supportive team is vital to recovery. Often misunderstood conditions, recover from an ED is possible. We will work closely with your treating team to ensure best care is provided.
EDs include - Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, OSFED, ARFID
DE is an umbrella term for EDs as well as disordered thoughts and behaviours including - Weight and shape concerns, constant dieting, fasting/ restriction, excessive exercise, binging
We understand food and nutrition is not that simple.
